The Lexington Board of Selectmen is delighted to announce they have concluded successful negotiations with James (“Jim”) J. Malloy to serve as Lexington’s Town Manager. Jim will attend the September 5, 2018 Board of Selectmen’s Meeting at 7:00 pm in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room in the Town Office Building and following the official vote by the Board will sign his contract. He will officially begin his role as Lexington Town Manager on Monday, October 1, 2018.
“I’m truly excited and honored to have been selected as Lexington’s fifth Town Manager. I’m looking forward to working with the staff and getting involved in any outstanding issues and working with the Selectmen and others in the community on the Selectmen’s goals and priorities. I’m hoping the month of September passes quickly because I am excited for October 1.”, said Jim.
Jim brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. He has 30 years of successful local government management experience in four communities in Colorado, New York and Massachusetts with the past 24 years in two Massachusetts communities. Since 2009, he has served as the Town Manager for Westborough and from 1994 to 2009 he served as the Town Administrator for Sturbridge. Jim holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration is an ICMA Credentialed Manager and served as the Northeast Vice President of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). Jim has been married for 33 years to his high school prom date Kay and has two adult sons Pete and Brian who are both engineers in the Boston area.
