The Lexington Debate Institute is back for a third summer! Designed for students entering 6th-9th grade, our two-week summer sessions will take place from July 15 – July 26 and July 29 – August 9, each weekday 9am-4pm at Lexington High School. We will also hold one-week sessions from July 15 – July 19 and July 29 – August 2. We teach the fundamental skills of debate, research a real-world issue, and culminate with a Public Forum style tournament at the end, so that students can apply and show off their knowledge and new skills. Enrollment is limited to ensure a high faculty-to-student ratio. The one-week sessions focus on core presentation and argument skills, and include two full-length debates, as well as a demonstration debate from nationally successful instructors. Endorsed by the Harvard Debate Council and run by Backers of Lexington Debate, it is the premier nonprofit middle school debate program in New England. If you are interested in helping your child hone their critical thinking, research skills, and persuasive speaking, the Lexington Debate Institute is for you!
We have a $400 registration discount for signing up before May 1. We also offer generous financial aid packages to families qualifying for free/reduced lunch.
Information sessions will be held at the high school on Tuesday, April 23 and Wednesday, April 24 from 7-8pm.
