Lifeguards needed

The Lexington Recreation & Community Programs Department are looking for enthusiastic, friendly, strong swimmers to help provide experience to our patrons at our aquatic facilities this summer. We oversee a pool complex with 4 pools as well as the Old Reservoir. We will be reintroducing swim lessons this summer as well during the summer, which we are excited to have back!

Requirements: Lifeguards must be at least 16 years of age and instructors must be at least 17 years of age. You must be able to complete a swim test in order to show you have the swimming skills and endurance to take the lifeguard certification. You will need to be able to swim 300 yards (6 laps in most pools), tread water for 2 minutes only using your legs and retrieve a brick from the bottom of the pool of 10+ feet.

Certifications: We will reimburse the fee of the certification at the end of the summer if staff commit to working 30+hours/week during the summer. We will also pay the hourly rate during the certification courses. The lifeguard certification course is roughly 40 hours and the Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification course is about 30+ hours long.

Rate: $16/hour for lifeguards and up to $17/hour for WSI,  flyer info

Pool is open from June 4-September 5th. I can be very flexible with work hours depending on your summer schedule.
