The 2021 Lexington Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS), 1 in 4 students identifies as LGBTQ+

These students are:

·      4.5 times as likely to be BULLIED at school

·      3 out of 4 transgender students FEEL HOPELESS every day

·      40% of transgender students consider SUICIDE

These experiences result in more missed school days, lower grades, and low self-esteem. 

Research shows, these statistics are products of the conditions in which LGBTQ+ students live. And so, we have the power to change things for the better.

Please join this LHS PTO & School Health Advisory Council “SHAC” forum for parents, educators, students, and community members to learn more about these issues with Greater Boston PFLAG, an organization whose mission is to provide support for families with LGBTQ youth.  During this 90-minute presentation, the panel will share their personal experiences, talk about what is and isn’t helpful and discuss easy ways we all can help.”
