The Club is open to all Estabrook students in grades 1-5 who enjoy chess and want to play in an environment that promotes learning, fun and good sportsmanship.

The Club will be split into two groups, each group meeting on alternating Friday mornings from 8:00 AM – 8:45 AM in the Estabrook music room/ cafeteria.  Grouping will be decided once we have everyone signed up.

The Club has some simple guidelines and conditions:

• We only take on students who already know the basics of how to play the game.

• We kindly ask that you remind your child to be respectful and well-mannered. (Students who repeatedly behave in ways that disrupt the meetings will be asked to leave the club).

• There will be 4 tournament sessions for each group (by grade level) at the end of the school year and every student will receive a reward for participating in the tournaments.

• To help defray various costs, we request an annual membership fee of $15 / student (scholarships will be available upon request).
